Neeraj Chopra reveals reaction after Arshad Nadeem’s record throw in Paris Olympics
Paris Olympics silver medallist Neeraj Chopra shared his thoughts after Pakistan’s gold medallist, Arshad Nadeem, made an incredible 92.97m throw in the Paris Olympics final.
Arshad’s historic throw ended Pakistan’s 32-year medal drought, setting a new record with his massive throw of 92.97m.
In an exclusive interview, Neeraj, who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics, praised Arshad’s impressive throw but admitted that it put pressure on him.
He said, “The first throw has a big impact on an athlete’s mindset. My first throw was good, but I made a foul. I had some problems because the track was new, and I was trying to adjust to avoid a foul, but I couldn’t. The competition was really tough.”
Neeraj added, “Nadeem had a great throw, and after that, I lost control. I was really frustrated because I wanted to do better. But in the process, I missed some technical details.”
As a result, Chopra couldn’t defend his gold medal in Paris and had to settle for silver with a throw of 89.45m in the second round.
Back in 2021, Neeraj had won gold at the Tokyo Olympics, and now, by winning two Olympic medals in a row, he became the first Indian athlete to achieve this feat.
