
Paris 2024: Para cycling moves from track to road on Day 7
Day seven of the Paris 2024 Paralympics is packed with exciting events:
Para Cycling Road Races:
- The first day of the Para cycling road races starts in Cliche-sous-Bois.
- Great Britain’s Sarah Storey will compete to keep her title in the C5 individual time trial, an event she’s won at the last three Paralympics.
- Oksana Masters, a medallist from both Summer and Winter Games, will start in the women’s H4-5 individual time trial, an event she also won in Tokyo.
- Other cyclists who did well in the track events are now aiming to shine on the road, like China’s Li Zhangyu and Dutch cyclist Tristan Bangma.
Para Powerlifting:
- The Para powerlifting competition kicks off at La Chapelle Arena.
- Jordan’s Omar Qarada, the current champion, will try to defend his title in the men’s 49kg category. His main rival is Vietnam’s Le Van Cong, the world champion.
- Chinese lifters will be in focus too, with Cui Zhe aiming for her first gold in the women’s 41kg and Guo Lingling looking for gold in the women’s 45kg. Kazakhstan’s David Degtyarev is a top contender in the men’s 54kg.
Wheelchair Tennis:
- The first gold medals in wheelchair tennis will be awarded.
- In the quad doubles final, the Netherlands’ Sam Schroder and Niels Vink will compete against Great Britain’s Andy Lapthorne and Gregory Slade.
- For the bronze medal, South Africa’s Donald Ramphadi and Lucas Sithole will face Brazil’s Leandro Pena and Ymanitu Silva at Roland Garros.
Day seven is sure to be thrilling with so many medals up for grabs!
