Pakistan’s Ahmad Baig finishes runner-up in Asian Development Tour Championship
FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s young golfer Ahmad Baig earned second place at the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Championship in Cambodia, putting up a strong performance over four days with a 19-under-par score.
Baig showed his skill with rounds of 2-under, 7-under, and two back-to-back 5-under rounds in the final days. Though he was leading after the first three rounds, Thailand’s Nopparat Panichphol overtook him with a 7-under final round, winning the title by just one stroke.
The tournament, which had a prize pool of $100,000, awarded Baig $11,500 for his second-place finish. His excellent play also boosted him to second place in the ADT rankings overall.
The Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) called this a major achievement in Baig’s international career, with many fans and experts praising his performance.
“This accomplishment not only shows Ahmad’s skill and determination, but it has also moved him up to 2nd place on the Asian Development Tour, with total earnings of $46,772.95. His consistent play throughout the tournament has impressed both golf fans and professionals,” the PGF said in a statement.
Recently, Ahmad also made the cut in the Asian Tour’s International Series Morocco, where he earned an additional $20,300, further strengthening his position in international golf.
“With this outstanding performance, Ahmad is solidifying his place as one of the top young players in the region. His journey is one to watch as he competes for even more honors on the international stage,” the PGF added.
After the tournament, Baig shared his excitement, saying, “I’m thankful for this opportunity and very happy with how I performed. I’m eager to keep this momentum going and aim for more wins in the future.”
