Inter Miami CF has extended striker Luis Suarez’s contract for the 2025 MLS season. The 37-year-old Uruguayan forward had an impressive 2024 campaign, scoring 20 goals to tie with Lionel Messi for the team’s top scorer. Suarez also registered nine assists in 27 matches (21 starts) during his debut MLS season and was a finalist for MLS Newcomer of the Year. His contributions helped Miami win the Supporters’ Shield with a record 74 points.
“Luis brought all the qualities that make him one of the greatest strikers in history, performing at an elite level. We’re excited for him to continue with us next season,” said Raul Sanllehi, Inter Miami’s president of football operations.
This announcement follows the introduction of Javier Mascherano as the new head coach, a former teammate of Suarez at FC Barcelona, alongside Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets.
Suarez expressed his excitement about staying for another year: “I’m happy and excited to continue here, enjoying the support of our fans, who feel like family. We hope to bring even more joy next season.”
With 496 career goals and over 20 trophies, Suarez has played for top clubs like Ajax, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and Barcelona (2014-2020) before joining Inter Miami.
