Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed interest in extending his contract with Al Nassr, as talks between the Saudi club and its captain have begun, according to ESPN.
Ronaldo’s current contract is set to expire in 2025 at the end of the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League season. However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has hinted at his desire to continue playing in Saudi Arabia.
In a previous interview, Ronaldo shared his thoughts on his future, saying, “I’m not sure when I’ll retire, maybe in two or three years, but I might retire here at Al Nassr. I’m really happy at this club, and I feel comfortable in this country. I’m enjoying my time in Saudi Arabia and I want to keep playing here.”
The contract discussions have also coincided with Ronaldo’s ambition to play until the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which would make him the first footballer to compete in six different World Cup tournaments.
On the pitch, Ronaldo continues to make an impact. He recently scored the winning goal for Al Nassr in their AFC Champions League Elite match against Al Rayyan of Qatar. Following the match, Ronaldo posted on his X account, saying, “Hard work pays off. Let’s keep going.”
As it stands, Al Nassr currently holds third place in the points table, with four points from two matches.
