Barcelona loan out two players

Aug 27, 2024

Barcelona has loaned striker Vitor Roque to Real Betis after he struggled to make an impact in his first few months with the team. They have also loaned center-back Clement Lenglet to Atletico Madrid, who are Barcelona’s title rivals.

Roque, a Brazilian forward, joined Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense in January for about 30 million euros ($33.5 million). He scored only two goals in 16 games while Barcelona watched Real Madrid win La Liga and the Champions League.

Barcelona announced that Roque will be on loan at Real Betis until June 30, 2025, with an option for another year. They also confirmed that Betis has the option to buy the 19-year-old.

French defender Lenglet, 29, will play for Atletico Madrid until the end of the season. He has previously been on loan to Tottenham and Aston Villa.

Barcelona is still unable to register their summer signing, Dani Olmo, with La Liga due to financial issues and strict league rules. They allowed Ilkay Gundogan to return to Manchester City last week, hoping this would free up space to register Olmo, but Olmo was still unavailable for their match against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
