PCB Delays NOCs for Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan for Global T20 Canada League

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed granting no-objection certificates (NOCs) to Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan to participate in the Global T20 Canada League, according to sources from Geo News. The PCB has reportedly reached out to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to clarify the status of the league before making a final decision on issuing the NOCs.

This decision comes amidst requests from several players seeking permission from the PCB to take part in various cricket leagues around the world. Recently, NOCs were issued to 12 cricketers for their involvement in different international leagues. Some of these players are part of Pakistan’s central contracts, while others have not represented the national team for an extended period.

Seven Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz, have been selected by different franchises in the Global T20 Canada League. Babar Azam, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Rizwan are set to play for the Vancouver Knights. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz will represent the Toronto Nationals, while Iftikhar Ahmed will join the Bangla Tigers Mississauga.

The PCB’s decision to withhold the NOCs reflects their cautious approach towards player participation in leagues not affiliated with the ICC. They have sought clarification to ensure compliance with international regulations governing player involvement in such tournaments.

Meanwhile, other Pakistani players have received NOCs for their participation in various leagues. Abrar Ahmed will feature in Major League Cricket, Fakhar Zaman in the Caribbean Premier League, Haris Rauf in Major League Cricket, Mohammad Amir in County Cricket, Mohammad Haris, and Mohammad Hasnain in the Lanka Premier League, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, and Sohaib Maqsood in the World Championship of Legends, Usama Mir in The Hundred, and Zaman Khan in Major League Cricket.

The PCB continues to assess each request for NOCs based on the league’s standing with the ICC and the player’s current status within Pakistani cricket. Fans await further updates as the board awaits clarification from the ICC regarding the Global T20 Canada League.
