Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up after ‘special’ century against Australia
Jaiswal Reflects on ‘Special’ Century Against Australia in Perth Test
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal described his century in the ongoing first Test against Australia at the Optus Stadium as a result of his dedicated efforts and a dream come true. His impressive 161-run innings off 297 balls, featuring 15 boundaries and three sixes, was pivotal in propelling India to a commanding position.
Speaking after the third day’s play, Jaiswal expressed pride in his performance, highlighting the significance of scoring runs in Australia.
“All centuries are special, but this one is unique because I really wanted it,” said Jaiswal. “I worked incredibly hard for this, putting in extra effort in every practice session. Scoring here in Australia has always been a personal goal, and I’m glad I could achieve it.”
Resuming his innings at 90 overnight, Jaiswal brought up his fourth Test century with a perfectly executed upper-cut off Josh Hazlewood. Reflecting on that moment, he revealed that he had anticipated the delivery.
“He kept bowling outside off-stump, but I expected he’d try something different. When he bowled the bouncer, I was ready and went for the shot. It worked out, and I truly enjoyed that moment,” Jaiswal shared.
Jaiswal’s stellar performance was complemented by a masterful century from Virat Kohli, who broke records with his brilliant knock.
“Watching him bat is incredible,” Jaiswal said about Kohli. “I’ve seen him score runs in Perth on TV, but witnessing it from the other end was something else. He’s been doing this for so long. We were all waiting for his hundred, and he played amazingly.”
India’s dominant batting display, powered by Jaiswal and Kohli, has put them in control of the match as they eye a strong finish.
