Why did Usman Qadir retire?

Oct 4, 2024

Former Pakistan cricketer Usman Qadir has announced his retirement after he was denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC), which would have allowed him to play cricket abroad.

According to sources, the leg-spinner now plans to continue his cricketing career in other countries.

Usman shared the news of his retirement from Pakistan cricket on his social media on Thursday. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country and thanked his coaches, teammates, and fans for their support.

In his farewell message, he wrote, “It has been a great honor to play for Pakistan. I’m incredibly thankful for all the support from my coaches and teammates throughout this journey. From our victories to the challenges we faced, each moment has shaped my career. I also want to thank the fans who stood by me with their unwavering support.”

Usman’s career with Pakistan included playing one one-day international and 25 T20 internationals. However, his career didn’t reach the same heights as his father, Abdul Qadir, a legendary bowler.

Despite this, Usman said he is proud to continue his father’s legacy and carries with him the love for cricket and the life lessons his father passed on. As he moves forward in his career, he added, “I will always carry the spirit of Pakistan cricket and the special memories we created together.”

Usman’s retirement marks the end of his chapter in Pakistan cricket, but he is looking forward to new opportunities beyond the national team.
