KARACHI: Waseem Shinwari’s Five-Wicket Haul Propels DHA Dabangs to Dominant Victory in KTPL
Waseem Shinwari’s remarkable bowling performance in the second innings helped DHA Dabangs secure an emphatic innings-and-one-run victory over North Nawab in the 10th match of the Karachi Tape Ball Premier League (KTPL) Season 4 at the Moin Khan Academy on Thursday.
After being sent in to bat, North Nawab struggled to put up a competitive score, managing only 72/7 in their first innings. Captain Haris Ali Khan was the lone warrior for his side, smashing a brilliant 21-ball 52, featuring three fours and six towering sixes.
Unfortunately, Haris received little support from his teammates, with the next-best contribution being a run-a-ball six by Samad Hameed. For the Dabangs, Salman Khan Sallu and Rana Mohsin were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming three wickets, while Waseem Shinwari added one to his tally.
In response, DHA Dabangs’ captain Taimoor Mirza led from the front with an explosive innings. He smashed a blistering 24-ball 85, studded with seven boundaries and eight maximums, to guide his team to a commanding total of 121/2, giving them a 49-run lead. Saqib Lefti chipped in with a valuable 23 off 10 balls, including a four and three sixes.
Faced with a 49-run deficit, North Nawab faltered again in their second innings, collapsing for just 48 runs. Samad Hameed top-scored with 15 off 10 balls, while Irfan Nazir managed 12 off five deliveries.
Waseem Shinwari was the star with the ball for the Dabangs, wreaking havoc with a phenomenal spell of 5/15 in just two overs. Salman Khan Sallu added to the carnage with three wickets, sealing a crushing defeat for the Nawab.
The comprehensive victory moved DHA Dabangs up to fourth place in the KTPL Season 4 standings, with two points from three matches. North Nawab, sharing an identical record, slipped to fifth due to the loss.
