Shan Masood excited about six pacers in team ahead of Bangladesh Tests
Pakistan’s Test captain, Shan Masood, recently talked about the benefits of having six fast bowlers in the team for their upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Masood believes that each pacer brings something unique that can help Pakistan win matches.
The series includes two Tests against Bangladesh at home, three Tests against England at home, two Tests against South Africa away, and two Tests against the West Indies at home.
In a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) podcast, Masood stressed the importance of managing the fast bowlers’ workload. He gave the example of Shaheen Afridi, who was rested for one Test during the Australia tour last December to avoid overworking him.
Masood said, “We have to manage the workload of our pacers. For instance, Shaheen Afridi played two consecutive Tests in Australia, and we had to rest him for the third one because of the busy schedule. We will keep monitoring that.”
He expressed enthusiasm about having six strong fast bowlers in the current squad. “The great thing is that we have six exciting fast bowlers. Each one of them can claim a spot in the team and brings something different to the table. If we need to rest one of our main bowlers, we can rely on the others to step up and gain valuable experience.”
Masood added that new bowlers like Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Muhammad Ali, and Aamer Jamal can also make a big impact. “Even if someone like Shaheen or Naseem Shah is unavailable, these new players can help Pakistan win matches by taking the crucial 20 wickets.”
