Sarfaraz Ahmed among team mentors for Champions Cup
Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed as a mentor for the upcoming Champions Cup.
In addition to Sarfaraz, other mentors confirmed are Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Shoaib Malik, and Waqar Younis. They will all have three-year contracts following a thorough selection process.
The names of the five teams and their players for the Champions Cup will be announced later.
The first task for these mentors will be the Champions One-Day Cup, taking place at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad from September 12 to 29. This will mark the return of top-level men’s cricket to Faisalabad after almost two years, with the last domestic 50-over match held there in March 2022.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the mentors, saying they bring valuable experience and passion for the game. He believes their involvement will help develop and support the next generation of cricketers, improve domestic cricket, and bridge the gap between domestic and international levels.
The mentors will help with team strategy, planning, and leadership, contributing to a strong domestic cricket system that provides clear pathways for players to advance and represent Pakistan.
