Pakistan Shaheens bag third win of Top End T20 series
Pakistan Shaheens won a low-scoring match against the Melbourne Renegades by four wickets in the Top End T20 series on Thursday. The Shaheens bowled well, keeping the Renegades to a small score that they managed to chase down for the win.
The Renegades batted first but struggled, losing wickets quickly and never gaining momentum. Their top scorer was Jai Lemire with 23 runs from 24 balls, but the team was all out for just 107 runs. Blake Macdonald added 18 runs, and Will Sutherland scored 16, but the Shaheens’ bowlers were too strong.
Jahandad Khan led the bowling for the Shaheens, taking three wickets for 19 runs in 3.3 overs. Mohammad Imran Jr, Faisal Akram, and Arif Yaqoob each took two wickets, and Mubassir Khan got one.
When the Shaheens chased the target of 108 runs, they also faced some trouble. Sahibzada Farhan was out for 4 runs, and Captain Mohammad Haris made 17 runs before being dismissed, leaving the Shaheens in a tough spot.
Omair Bin Yousuf and Usman Khan then steadied the team with a good partnership. Omair scored 25 runs, and Usman played a crucial role, scoring 38 runs from 36 balls. Although Usman was eventually out, Mubassir Khan and Jahandad Khan guided the Shaheens to victory in the 18th over.
So far, the Shaheens have won against Perth Scorchers, lost to Melbourne Stars, and beaten Tasmania Tigers in the series.
