Pak vs Eng Test series: Match officials announced

LAHORE: The match officials for the upcoming Test series between Pakistan and England have been confirmed.

Sir Richie Richardson from the West Indies, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will oversee the matches for the three ICC World Test Championship fixtures between Pakistan and England.

The two teams will play a three-match Test series from October 7 to 28, with games scheduled in Multan and Rawalpindi. The first Test will take place at Multan Cricket Stadium from October 7 to 11, followed by the second Test from October 15 to 19 at the same venue. The series will conclude with the third Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, starting on October 24.

For the first Test, on-field umpire duties will be handled by Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena and Bangladesh’s Sharfuddoula Saikat, both part of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires. New Zealand’s Christopher Gaffaney, another Elite Panel member, will act as the third umpire, while Pakistan’s Asif Yaqoob, from the ICC International Panel of Umpires, will be the fourth umpire.

In the second Test, Dharmasena and Gaffaney will serve as the on-field umpires, with Saikat as the third umpire. Pakistan’s Rashid Riaz, from the ICC International Panel of Umpires, will take on the role of fourth umpire.

For the third and final Test in Rawalpindi, Gaffaney and Saikat will be the on-field umpires, while Dharmasena will serve as the third umpire. Faisal Afridi from Pakistan, also part of the ICC International Panel, will act as the fourth umpire.

This series is an important part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.
