PAK vs ENG: Ben Stokes to undergo scan for hamstring injury ahead of first Test
Lahore: England’s captain, Ben Stokes, will have a scan next week to check on his hamstring injury before the team’s Test tour to Pakistan.
The 33-year-old got injured in August and missed the three-match series against Sri Lanka.
Despite the injury, Stokes has kept up with his training. Recently, he had a long net session at Durham’s Chester-le-Street and played in the Celebrity Pro-Am golf event at the PGA Championship in Wentworth.
The scan will help determine if Stokes is ready for the first Test, which starts on October 7.
Even though he’s still injured, Stokes has been named in England’s 17-member squad. The team will leave for Pakistan on October 1. If Stokes can’t play the first Test, Ollie Pope will take over as captain.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hasn’t confirmed the venues for the series yet. Due to construction at Karachi’s National Stadium, the first Test won’t be held there. PCB is considering Multan for the first two Tests because of its good conditions, but another option is to host the first and third Tests in Rawalpindi.
The official schedule for the Pakistan-England series is expected to be released in the next few days.
