PAK vs BAN: Bangladesh recover after losing two wickets early
On the third day of the first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh ended the first session with 134-2 in 48 overs.
Starting the day at 22 without loss, Bangladesh had Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan at the crease. However, in the fifth over of the day, Zakir Hasan edged a ball from Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Rizwan took a great catch to dismiss him. Soon after, Khurram Shahzad bowled out Bangladesh’s captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, leaving the visitors at 53-2 in 27 overs.
After losing two early wickets, Bangladesh played cautiously, with Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque forming a strong 81-run partnership. By the end of the first session, Bangladesh had reached 134-2. Shadman was not out on 53 runs from 123 balls, while Mominul Haque was at 45 runs from 66 balls.
Earlier, on the second day, Pakistan declared their first innings at 448-6. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel both scored centuries, with Shakeel making 141 runs and Rizwan remaining unbeaten on 171 runs. Shaheen Afridi also contributed with 29 runs from 24 balls.
The Test match is part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25, with both teams aiming to improve their standings on the WTC points table. So far, Pakistan has won 12 out of 13 Test matches against Bangladesh, with one match ending in a draw.
