No more ‘old floodlights’ at Gaddafi Stadium
LAHORE: Gaddafi Stadium’s upgradation is moving forward with a significant development – new LED floodlights are being installed in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
According to sources, old floodlights from three of the stadium’s six towers have already been removed, with work continuing on the remaining towers. Once the old lights are fully taken down, all six towers will be equipped with new LED floodlights, following a detailed plan already set in motion.
In addition to upgraded lighting, Gaddafi Stadium will feature two advanced screens to improve the fan experience during the tournament, which will host eight international teams. Currently, the renovation work is reported to be about halfway complete.
On Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the stadium to check on the progress. Satisfied with the improvements, he announced plans to establish a cricket museum and a souvenir shop for fans at the venue.
Naqvi also reviewed the project details at the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) camp office, inspecting blueprints and outlining further enhancements. He emphasized expanding the parking area and improving the look of the stadium’s main building exterior.
“We’re transforming this stadium into a world-class facility,” said Naqvi, underscoring the commitment to providing top-quality amenities for fans and players in time for the Champions Trophy.
