PCB Rejects Hybrid Model for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that it will not accept the proposed hybrid model for the upcoming Men’s Champions Trophy, sources confirmed on Thursday.

Ahead of an online board meeting scheduled for tomorrow, the PCB clarified its position on hosting the eight-team tournament. The board firmly rejected the idea of holding the high-profile Pakistan-India match at a neutral venue as part of the hybrid model.

The PCB also made it clear that Pakistan’s national team will not travel to India for future tournaments if the India-Pakistan clash is moved to a neutral location.

Additionally, Pakistan has requested the ICC to come up with an acceptable formula for the Champions Trophy 2025 before the meeting takes place.

Earlier, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi called for equal treatment in the cricketing ties between the two nations, calling India’s refusal to play in Pakistan for the tournament “unacceptable.” He reiterated that Pakistan would not accept a scenario where they play in India but India refuses to play in Pakistan, emphasizing that all decisions should be made on the basis of equality.

Naqvi assured that the PCB would continue to work for the best possible outcome for Pakistan cricket, stressing that they would not back down on the issue of reciprocity.
