Mohammad Nabi to retire from ODIs after Champions Trophy 2025

Afghanistan’s veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi plans to retire from One Day Internationals (ODIs) after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to take place in Pakistan from February to March.

Naseeb Khan, the CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), shared in an interview that Nabi had informed the board of his retirement plans several months ago. “Nabi told us he wants to end his ODI career after the Champions Trophy, and we fully respect his decision,” Naseeb said. He also mentioned that Nabi is expected to continue playing T20 cricket beyond 2025.

Nabi made his ODI debut for Afghanistan in 2009 against Scotland, impressing with a strong half-century. Since then, he has played 165 ODIs, scoring 3,549 runs with an average of 27.30 and taking 171 wickets.

In his latest ODI appearance, Nabi helped Afghanistan secure a 92-run win over Bangladesh, scoring a quick 84 runs off 79 balls with four fours and three sixes. He also contributed with the ball, taking 1/23 in 4.2 overs.
