Mayor Karachi poses with Champions Trophy upon KMC Office visit
KARACHI: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, proudly posed with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 during its visit to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) office on Friday.
Joined by Nasir Hussain Shah and other officials, Wahab expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for including Karachi in the trophy’s tour. He reaffirmed that the eight-team tournament will be hosted entirely in Pakistan and shared his hopes for a title victory by the national team.
Before reaching the KMC office, the trophy made a stop at the iconic Quaid-e-Azam mausoleum. Earlier in the day, it was displayed at Mohatta Palace during an event attended by Champions Trophy-winning captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Sarfaraz, who led Pakistan to their historic Champions Trophy win in 2017, was warmly welcomed by students and faculty during the college event. Reflecting on the victory, he said, “All our players will cherish every moment from that event. It was a historic achievement for us.”
The former captain also posed with the trophy alongside students. While Sarfaraz was initially scheduled to appear with the trophy at Mohatta Palace, the event was moved to the college due to permission issues.
