Imam-ul-Haq Shines as Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Enters Triangular Stage

Left-handed batter Imam-ul-Haq has bolstered his case for a return to Pakistan’s Test side with a standout performance in the 2024-25 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Representing Multan, Imam emerged as the leading run-scorer in the group stage, amassing 635 runs, including a highest score of 184.

Youngster Maaz Sadaqat from Peshawar remains a strong contender to overtake Imam’s tally as his team advanced to the triangular stage. Maaz currently sits third on the batting charts with 462 runs, behind Umar Amin of Rawalpindi, who has 476 runs. Veteran batter Abid Ali, continuing his bid for a Test comeback, scored 425 runs for Bahawalpur.

In bowling, Islamabad’s Musa Khan leads with 38 wickets, followed by Mohammad Abbas of Lahore Blues and Mehran Sanwal, each with 31 dismissals. The best bowling figures in an innings were recorded by FATA’s Afaq Afridi (8/57) and Ubaid Shah, younger brother of Test pacer Naseem Shah, who also claimed 8 wickets in a single innings.

Wicketkeeper Afzal Manzoor of Multan topped his category with 26 dismissals, while Zain Abbas from Multan stood out in fielding with 11 catches.

Teams Advancing to the Triangular Stage
From the group stage, Lahore Region Whites (Group A), Peshawar Region (Group B), and Sialkot Region (Group C) have qualified for the triangular stage.

  • Match 1: Peshawar vs. Sialkot – November 26-29 – Abbottabad Cricket Stadium
  • Match 2: Peshawar vs. Lahore Whites – December 2-5 – Abbottabad Cricket Stadium
  • Match 3: Lahore Whites vs. Sialkot – December 27-30 – Venue TBC

The top two teams from this stage will face off in the final, scheduled from January 2-6, 2025.

Champions T20 Cup

Before the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final, the Champions T20 Cup will be held from December 7-25 in Rawalpindi, adding more excitement to Pakistan’s domestic cricket calendar.
