Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Gary Kirsten, arrived in Lahore on Friday to check on player performances ahead of the Champions Trophy. He will attend the Champions One-Day Cup matches at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
Kirsten’s role is to help select a strong squad for the Champions Trophy, which starts in February 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has said that this domestic tournament is important preparation for the big event.
While in Pakistan, Kirsten will also join a camp organized by the PCB to discuss future plans.
In the first match of the Champions One-Day Cup on Thursday, the Markhors won against the Panthers by 160 runs.
On Friday, the Stallions and Lions will play against each other at 3 pm in Faisalabad. The Lions are led by Waqar Younis, and the Stallions by Shoaib Malik.
Red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie will arrive in Lahore on September 22.
