Former selector Yousuf likely to get new role in PCB

Nov 19, 2024

Mohammad Yousuf, the former Pakistan cricket captain and legendary batsman, is set to take on a new role within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), according to recent reports. Yousuf recently resigned as the batting coach at the High Performance Centre, but the PCB has not accepted his resignation, indicating that they have other plans for him. It is understood that the PCB is likely to offer him two or three potential roles, giving him the option to choose the one that suits him best.

In addition to his coaching position, Yousuf had stepped down as a national selector in September, citing personal reasons. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed gratitude for his time with the national team and confidence in the current generation of players. He praised their talent and passion, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Yousuf had an illustrious playing career, representing Pakistan in 90 Test matches, 288 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three T20 internationals. His recent role as a selector, which began in March 2024, saw him contribute to the squad selection for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Reports also suggest that PCB may reach out to another cricketing legend, Abdul Razzaq, for a future role, with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hinting at potential moves involving these two former stars in upcoming plans.
