Five-star Haris helps Pakistan book Australia on 163
In the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf led a strong bowling attack that restricted Australia to just 163 runs in 35 overs.
After winning the toss, Pakistan put Australia in to bat first. Australia’s opening pair, Jake Fraser-McGurk (13) and Matthew Short (19), struggled to build a solid start and both fell to Shaheen Shah Afridi, who bowled impressively, ending with figures of 3/26.
Steve Smith and Josh Inglis then tried to stabilize the innings, adding 38 runs for the third wicket. However, Haris Rauf dismissed Inglis for 18 in the 14th over and soon after removed Marnus Labuschagne, who scored only six off 11 balls.
As Australia’s troubles grew, Mohammad Hasnain took down the set batter Smith, who was the top-scorer with a resilient 35 from 48 balls, hitting six boundaries and a six. Australia was now 101/5 by the 21st over.
Haris Rauf, now on a roll, dismissed Aaron Hardie (13) and Glenn Maxwell (16) in quick succession. He then completed his second ODI five-wicket haul by taking out Australian captain Pat Cummins (13), finishing with impressive figures of 5/29 from his eight overs. Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah also contributed, taking three and two wickets respectively, while Hasnain took one.
Australia came into this game leading the three-match series 1-0 after their close two-wicket win in the first match on Monday.
