LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday that Faheem Ashraf will captain a seven-member Pakistan squad in the upcoming Hong Kong World Sixes tournament.

The tournament, featuring eight teams, will take place from November 1 to 3 at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong. This marks the return of the event after a seven-year break.

Since the tournament’s inception in 1993, Pakistan has won the title four times and has been the runner-up on five occasions, including the last edition in 2017.

Chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong, China, Burji Shroff, expressed his excitement about the tournament’s return. “We are thrilled to revive this iconic event, which highlights Hong Kong as a global city and a sports hub in East Asia. Our goal is to develop the Hong Kong Sixes into a global series with the grand finale held here each year,” Shroff said.

Over the years, the tournament has seen some of the biggest names in cricket, including Shahid Afridi, MS Dhoni, Wasim Akram, Imran Nazir, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Glenn Maxwell, and Sanath Jayasuriya, compete in this fast-paced format.

Former Test wicketkeeper-batter Saleem Yousuf will accompany the Pakistan team as manager.

The Pakistan squad for the Hong Kong World Sixes includes:

  • Faheem Ashraf (captain)
  • Aamer Yamin
  • Asif Ali
  • Danish Aziz
  • Hussain Talat
  • Muhammad Akhlaq (wicketkeeper)
  • Shahab Khan
