Cricket South Africa gives go ahead to Bangladesh tour for Test series
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that their team will tour Bangladesh for a two-match Test series in October.
The Proteas will play two Tests during their time in Bangladesh.
Recently, CSA and a security team checked the safety arrangements in Bangladesh, following some political unrest in the country.
BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) director Nazmul Abedin expressed his excitement during an interview with an Indian news channel on Monday.
“We are relieved that international cricket is returning to Bangladesh,” said Abedin. “There were some concerns, but now everything is under control, and it’s good to see the outside world viewing us as a safe place again. We hope that other countries will feel more confident about coming here, and if we successfully host South Africa, other teams will also feel assured.”
Earlier, Bangladesh went through political unrest, leading to protests and the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Meanwhile, a group from CSA, including the Operations Manager, Team Security Manager, and a representative from the South African Cricketers’ Association, conducted a security check in Bangladesh.
“CSA has approved the series after the team gave a positive report following their inspection visit to Bangladesh,” CSA said in a statement.
The Proteas team is expected to arrive in Dhaka on October 16 for the first Test match. They will then travel to Chattogram for the second Test, scheduled from October 29 to November 2.
