Cricket Australia invites legend Younis Khan to its cricket festival

Cricket Australia is hosting a special cricket festival this summer, featuring famous players like Younis Khan, Glenn Maxwell, and Damien Fleming.

The event will take place on October 5 at Fed Square, starting at 3pm, giving fans the chance to meet some of cricket’s biggest stars.

Players attending include Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, Pakistan’s former T20 World Cup-winning captain Younis Khan, Australia’s former fast bowler and 1999 World Cup champion Damien Fleming, Victorian Captain Will Sutherland, and Australian Women’s U19 player Hasrat Gill.

The festival is set to be a big event for cricket fans, as it will promote international matches and Big Bash League games happening in Melbourne. It will also excite cricket fans from different cultures with player appearances, autograph signings, and chances to take photos with the Men’s and Women’s World Cup trophies.

The event is free and will offer fun activities like:

  • Interviews with cricket stars on stage
  • Meeting players and getting autographs
  • Photo opportunities with trophies
  • Appearances by Multicultural Ambassadors to support diversity and inclusion
  • Fun activities for kids with Big Bash mascots and inflatables
  • Cricket skill sessions for kids aged 5-12
  • Performances from drummers, dancers, and a DJ
  • Prizes and giveaways for fans

Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager for Events and Operations, shared his excitement about the festival, saying, “We invite all cricket fans and future players to the Cricket Festival at Federation Square on Saturday, October 5. It’s a chance to celebrate the upcoming summer of cricket and meet some of your cricket heroes.”

He also mentioned that fans can take part in cricket activities, see the World Cup and Big Bash trophies, and enjoy other exciting events. Morrison said, “We can’t wait to share the excitement of this summer with all cricket fans.”
