Changes likely in Pakistan’s lineup for second Australia ODI: reports
Pakistan is contemplating changes to their lineup for the second ODI against Australia, which will be a must-win match in the ongoing three-game series. Following a close two-wicket loss in the first ODI, the Mohammad Rizwan-led squad will hold their second training session on Thursday to finalize their preparations.
Reports suggest that Pakistan might include a regular spinner in their playing XI to bolster their bowling attack. The current 15-member squad includes two regular spinners, Arafat Minhas and Faisal Akram, who could be options for selection. If a spinner is brought in, one of the pacers, either Naseem Shah or Mohammad Hasnain, may be rested. Naseem, who struggled with cramps during the first match, is reportedly fully fit but could still be rested in favor of adding a spin option.
In the first ODI, Pakistan set a modest target of 204 runs, which Australia chased down in 33.3 overs, though they had to fight hard. Pakistan’s pace-dominant bowling lineup had reduced the hosts to 155/7, but a resilient 32* off 31 balls from Australian captain Pat Cummins, including four boundaries, led Australia to a narrow win.
With Australia leading the series 1-0, the second ODI is set to take place at Adelaide Oval on Friday, where Pakistan will look to level the series.
