The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently revised the bonus points rule for the Champions One-Day Cup at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. Here’s a breakdown of the updated playing conditions:
- Bonus Points Based on Run Rate:
- Teams will now earn bonus points based on the difference in their run rate compared to the opposition.
- 1 run per over difference earns 1 bonus point.
- 2 runs per over difference earns 2 bonus points.
- 3 runs per over difference earns 3 bonus points.
- Previous System:
- Under the old rule, bonus points were awarded based on the margin of victory by runs or wickets.
- Additional Bonus Points Opportunities:
- Scoring 350 runs will earn 1 bonus point.
- Scoring 375 runs will earn 2 bonus points.
- Taking three wickets in the first powerplay earns bonus points.
- Scoring 80 runs in the first powerplay also earns bonus points.
- No Points for Unfinished Matches:
- If a match is washed out or cancelled without completing innings, no points will be awarded to either team.
- Current Standings:
- Markhors: Leading the table with 14 points after three games.
- Stallions: Second place with 13 points.
- Panthers: Third place with 11 points.
- Dolphins: Fourth place with zero points.
- Lions: Fifth place, also with zero points.
This rule change is intended to make the competition more engaging and to promote a more aggressive style of play.
