FAISALABAD: Pakistani all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, currently playing for the Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup, hopes to make a comeback to the national team by performing well in this tournament.

In an exclusive interview with Geo News, Faheem talked about his career, the Champions Cup, and his goal to return to the national team.

Faheem said he is never fully satisfied with his performances and always aims to do better. “I strive to give my best for any team I play for,” he explained.

He mentioned he plans to keep playing cricket as long as he has the energy and motivation. “When I no longer have that, I’ll step away from the game,” he added.

Faheem highlighted the significance of the Champions Cup, noting that it features many top players and marks the start of the cricket season. He believes this tournament is crucial for players, as it could be a turning point in their careers.

“Some players are trying to make a comeback, while others want to secure their positions. It’s a great chance for young players to show their skills and catch the eye of selectors and teams,” Faheem said.

He hopes to use his performance in the Champions Cup as a stepping stone to earn a place in the upcoming Champions Trophy. “I’m aiming to do well here to make a comeback for the Champions Trophy,” he added.

Faheem also reflected on the ups and downs of a cricket career. “Good performances can open many doors. What’s meant to be will happen. Sometimes it’s frustrating when opportunities don’t come despite good performances, but I try to stay positive,” he said.

He enjoys playing red-ball and T20 cricket the most, noting that T20 cricket has become very popular in Pakistan because of how often it’s played.

“In Pakistan, everyone is used to T20 cricket because we play it so much,” he concluded.
