Champions One-Day Cup: Dominant Markhors beat Panthers by 160 runs

The Panthers lost their first game of the Champions One Day Cup to the Markhors by 160 runs at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Thursday.

The Markhors scored 348 runs in their innings. When the Panthers tried to chase this target, their batting fell apart. Naseem Shah from the Markhors took out opener Abdul Bangalzai for just 4 runs in the 2.3 over. Saim Ayub, the other opener, scored 20 runs before being out. Azan Awais was run out after scoring 1 run.

Naseem continued to bowl well, getting the wickets of Usman Khan and Haider Ali, who scored 8 and 2 runs, respectively. By the time Haider was out, the Panthers were 41 for 5 wickets in the 8.3 over.

Captain Shadab Khan couldn’t save his team and was out for 4 runs. Mubasir Khan and Amad Butt tried to build a partnership, adding 59 runs. However, Mubasir was caught out for 33 runs, and Amad, who scored the most runs for his team with 72 off 84 balls, was also dismissed.

Despite his efforts, Amad couldn’t prevent the Panthers from being all out for 187 runs, with Muhammad Hasnain being the last wicket to fall.

Earlier, Kamran Ghulam of the Markhors scored 115 runs off 102 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 12 fours, which was a key part of their innings. Ghulam and captain Mohammad Rizwan (45 off 57 balls) put on a 133-run partnership for the third wicket. After Rizwan was out, Iftikhar Ahmed and Abdul Samad continued the strong performance, with Abdul Samad scoring 62 runs off 25 balls.

In total, the Markhors scored 347 runs for 6 wickets. For the Panthers, Mohammad Hasnain and Mubasir Khan took two wickets each, while Mohammad Zeeshan and Amad Butt took one wicket each.
