Babar, Rizwan, Shaheen suffer decline in ICC Men’s T20I Rankings
DUBAI: Pakistan’s top cricket stars Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi faced significant drops in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings following their 3-0 series loss to Australia.
The series was tough for Pakistan’s batters, with Usman Khan being the only one to score a half-century, managing 59 runs across three matches – the highest by any batter from the touring side. Babar scored 47 runs in three innings, with a top score of 41, leading to his fall to fifth place in the batting rankings. Rizwan also dropped one spot, slipping to sixth.
No other Pakistani batter features in the Top 50 of the ICC T20I Batting Rankings.
In contrast, India’s Tilak Varma soared 69 places to third, after a stellar performance in the recent series against South Africa. Varma is now India’s top-ranked batter, followed by Suryakumar Yadav in fourth. Sanju Samson also climbed 17 places to 22nd after scoring two centuries in the same series. Australia’s Travis Head retained the top spot.
In the bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi fell 10 spots to 24th. However, Haris Rauf moved up four places to 20th after an impressive series. Australia’s Adam Zampa climbed to third, while Nathan Ellis jumped 15 spots to 11th.
