Amir catches limelight for bowling splendid spell in T10
ABU DHABI: Pakistan’s veteran left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir delivered a standout performance for the New York Strikers in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League, impressing fans with his exceptional bowling on Monday.
Amir, who has been out of the national squad since leading Pakistan’s bowling attack in this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, has been in top form throughout the tournament.
Currently ranked as the joint-second leading wicket-taker in the league, Amir boasts an impressive economy rate of just 7.62.
His best performance came in a must-win match against the home side, where he took three crucial wickets, including Phil Salt, while conceding only seven runs in his two overs.
The Strikers’ dominant victory was sealed by Sri Lankan opener Kusal Perera, who smashed a quick half-century to lead the team to a comfortable 10-wicket win.
Amir’s stellar bowling earned him the Player of the Match award.
Speaking after the match, Amir emphasized the importance of the win and the team’s focus on maintaining momentum in the high-stakes tournament.
“This was a must-win game for us, and now we’re still in the running. It’s a short format, so there’s little room for error. We played as a team today, and that’s key with three big games ahead,” Amir said.
